AG Barr Intends To Investigate Epstein’s Death While Feds Turn Focus To Acquaintances
The investigation into the child sex trafficking ring of the now-deceased Jeffery Epstein will continue unabated and will now be joined by another investigation into how the billionaire financier could have died while in federal custody.
Attorney General William Barr, in a statement released Saturday, said he was “appalled” by Epstein’s death and would be asking the Inspector General to conduct an investigation into how a man who had tried to commit suicide could have succeeded on his second attempt while held in a federal prison.
“I was appalled to learn that Jeffrey Epstein was found dead early this morning from an apparent suicide while in federal custody. Mr. Epstein’s death raises serious questions that must be answered. In addition to the FBI’s investigation, I have consulted with the Inspector General who is opening an investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Epstein’s death.”
As an aside, you may have seen some of the kookier Hollywood types outraged at Barr’s statement because Barr’s father, they say, hired Epstein in the 70s to teach mathematics to children at a tony private school. Here’s the always-reliable Patricia Arquette on the matter:
Bill Barr’s DOJ took him off suicide watch. The same Barr who works for Trump. The same Barr who had to recuse in Epstein case in Florida. Tge sane Barr who refuses to recuse himself in NY & who’s father hired Epstein even though unqualified to teach KIDS.
And here’s a fun thing the media does to promote this kind of thing. The Daily Beast, in reporting on Barr’s statement, says unequivocally: “Barr’s father hired Epstein to teach math at Dalton Prep School in the late 1970s.”
But click the link they provide to another story on their own site and it says this:
In 1974, Dalton was run by headmaster Donald Barr—father of Attorney General William Barr, whose Justice Department recently began a review of Epstein’s 2007 non-prosecution agreement for the Palm Beach child sexual assault charges. Writers have noted the interesting coincidence. However, Donald Barr resigned in turmoil in February of 1974 (according to the March 14, 1974 issue of The Daltonian) which was seven months before Jeffrey Epstein began teaching there that fall. While it is possible that Donald Barr may have hired Epstein, if he made personnel decisions long in advance, the Dalton School lost four math teachers (according to The Daltonian) prior to the 1974-75 school year. Therefore the school may have hired Epstein, in part, out of an urgent need to fill vacant positions—even though Epstein did not have a college degree.
The media deserves all the criticism they get, really.
In any event, the criminal investigation into Epstein is now over. However, the feds say they will continue to seek justice for Epstein’s accusers by looking at accomplices who may have helped him along as he spent years leading what looks like a prostitution ring involving underage girls and very, very wealthy and powerful men and women.
