Oklahoma Passes a More Restrictive Texas-Style Abortion Ban

The Oklahoma legislature on Thursday passed a Texas-style bill banning nearly all abortions in the state that, with the governor’s signature, would become the strictest abortion law in the country.
The bill, modeled after the mechanism of Texas’ SB 8, which deputizes private citizens as its enforcers and has proved difficult to challenge in court, now heads to Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt, who has pledged to sign any bill restricting the procedure that reaches his desk.
