First Dose of Pfizer on 09/13/21
Hanahan, South Carolina
22 yrs old
Q: What was your life like before you got the vaccine?
I play college softball, I am a pitcher. I loved working out and would lift weights 3 or more days a week.
Q: Would you like to share your reasons for getting vaccinated?
This is my last year playing softball, and in the fall they had us get tested for Covid 3 days a week. We were told it would be hard for us to play, if we didn’t get the vaccine. They had other rules in place for the unvaccinated as well. I was totally against the vaccine over the summer, but due to the difficulty of playing without the vaccine, I was talked into getting it.
Q: What was your reaction, symptoms, & timeline?
- 9/13- second dose of Pfizer
- 9/21- about a week later I was at practice and my leg gave out, severe migraine
- 9/23-24 9/27- I was at weights, and I kept falling. My leg began shaking uncontrollably, and I couldn’t stand up.
- 10/16-17- mild headache
- 10/18- head pain, lasted 7-8 hours
- 11/6- head throbbing on top left and then top middle of head
- Every couple of days I would have random sharp head pain that was very severe.
- Head pain would come with speech problems, and I was often confused more than usual.
- 10/7- went to the neurologist and got a nerve conduction study done, and my nerves in my left leg were inflamed.
Q: What is your life like now, after getting the vaccine?
I couldn’t play softball or even walk well without falling for months. I did heavy physical therapy for a few months, and in January I had my second nerve conduction study. My neurologist said that my nerves were pretty much back to normal, so I started getting back to softball towards the end of January. I was able to start playing again in the middle of February and my leg was doing great for about two/three months. Over the past couple of weeks, my leg has been giving out/shaking again, and now I am having trouble just doing physical therapy again.
